Our Beliefs
Life can be tough at times for everyone, Resilience Counselling & Coaching can provide the expertise and support needed to overcome difficulties. Be it depression, anxiety (Covid19, Social & General), panic attacks, grief, relationship problems, work issues, parenting, bullying, addiction or other life challenges, Rachel is here to help. She is an experienced & expert therapist certified by the Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapists (IACP). Rachel uses a client-centred and Pluralistic approach.
Pluralistic counselling and psychotherapy is based on two key principles:
- There’s no ‘best’ way of doing therapy: different clients need different things at different times.
- If therapists want to find out the best way of helping clients, they should talk to them about it.
Rachel is trained in many methods: Personal-Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Reality Therapy, Logotherapy, Somatic Counselling and tailors her approach to each client.
It is amazing how much can be achieved in even a few sessions.
Rachel offers Person to Person sessions as well as telephone and online counselling.
How can Counselling help?
Interview data with clients identifies 5 processes of change:
- INSIGHT LEADS TO BEHAVIOUR CHANGE: Learning about yourself, others, and why you can end up doing unhelpful things can help you make more helpful choices about what to do.
- GETTING THINGS OFF YOUR CHEST. Talking about things to someone who cares and listens can lead to a sense of unburdening: not carrying so much stuff alone.
- LEARNING COPING METHODS. Advice and guidance from the counsellor can help you find better ways of dealing with things.
- DEVELOPING RELATIONAL ABILITIES. Trusting and opening out to the therapist can help develop the ability to communicate better with others in your life.
- ENHANCING SELF-ACCEPTANCE. Telling your real experiences to someone who values and accepts you can lead you to feel more positive about yourself.
